I am super excited to share my last Cover and it’s for one of my favorite clients Up Magazine, TAP airlines inflight Magazine. Being a regular contributor over five years maybe longer. I have wanted to have the opportunity to shoot the cover for a long time. I was really excited, as you can see from the behind the scenes. If you’re traveling this month you can puck one UP on your local 747 flight from Lisbon to around the globe.

The concept
Established by the United Nations in 1972, 25th May is Africa Day. To commemorate it, this month we celebrate Mozambique, one of the most remarkable African countries, situated on the east coast and boasting the incredibly blue waters of the Indian Ocean, where the Portuguese have been a presence since the end of the 15th century. With this cover, we wanted to pay tribute to Mozambican women and their exuberant nature.

The photographer
Born in New York into a Portuguese family, João Carlos studied at Ar.Co Institute of Art and Visual Communication in Lisbon and received the prestigious Hasselblad Master Award in 2010. A photographer in the areas of advertising, portraits and fashion. His work has been published in the magazines Elle, Forbes, Wallpaper, Numero, among others. He’s currently t ambassador for FujiFilm X- Photographer and member of the SanDisk Extreme Team. He was charmed by the people and beauty of Mozambique when he was there. He described this session thus: “It’s a great honor to do the cover of one of my favorite magazines, where every concept is always interesting and creative.” For us it was a huge pleasure!
