NAKED ON YOUR LAP COUTURE SAUVAGE a Wearable Art Project IVO BASSANTI BTS

I am very excited to finally share this incredible new project I was fortunate enough to be a part off . NAKED ON YOUR LAP COUTURE SAUVAGE a Wearable art Project by my good friend artist and designer Bassanti aka Ivo Moreira .

Bassanti designs are authentic works of art , each look is a hand crafted , hand painted piece of wearable art. I was commissioned to shoot part of his collection earlier this year and because the clothing is so rich in details , the idea is to keep the focus on the clothing , so I didn’t go crazy with lighting or backdrops or sceneries , We opted to shoot against a Savage storm gray Seamless Paper . I have been using Savage paper backdrops for ever . They are basically the norm for my seamless paper needs . Sara Kruss my awesome MUA on duty this day opted for strong eye make up almost recreating painter brush strokes , with a pallet of rich golds , silver and pinks , Elsa Art my hair stylist used some of her Hair magic by using bold colors and strong shapes to create her cool creations. I guess the project started with the casting of the models , we sourced models from DXL AGENCY and FASHION STUDIO AGENCY , we chose nine models at the end . Since the collection is so rich with bold colors and shapes , the Photography is basically just a form of registering the styles created by Bassanti . How ever I was so delighted with the final results that I decided to take it a step further , So I created the Silver edition . Im sue your wondering what is the silver edition and I will get into more details about that on a separate blog post , but the quick rundown is I wanted to created a series of images that could stand alone and part from the original more Lookbook / catalogue type images .

This is a great BTS image to see the fool set , you can see my lighting set up . Broncolor and beauty dish as my key light , my hair light is a gridded Elenchome strobe , I also have two side lights with barn doors fro the rim lighting , I love the @Westcott scrim Jim for full bounce .

Im shooting using a mix of Medium format ( Hasselblad H4d 40 & My DSLR Canon you can also see my G DRIVE contacted to My studio Imac .

For the close up images I would use the Westcott Eyelighter

This is one of my favorite images from the seires the Eyelighter is perfect for lighting those hard to reach places created by the fabric and shadows .
