A tribute to Curtis

Side effects include: drowsiness, apathy and blurred vision…I’m taking two.

These images were a test shoot with Spanish model Jonathon Moron @Major Models. After looking over my portfolio Jonathon sent me an email saying that he loved my work BUT that I DID NOT HAVE many men in it, which persuaded me to shoot an editorial with him.

I kept the shoot simple as usual and for my theme I based the story on Ian Curtis (1956 – 1980), the songwriter, lyricist and singer of British post-punk band Joy Division. I take inspiration from all different sources, mostly film, painting and music and here I was able to not only be inspired by the wonderful melodies and lyrics of Joy Division but also by the great feature film by Anton Corbin ” Control “.

My Drop it Modern backdrop gave life to the sofa. I love experimenting with the backdrops and using them in alternative ways.

“I can now see everything falling to pieces before my eyes…”

I am shooting primary with natural light, only adding fill with a reflector when it is needed. My reflector of choice is a 6 in one from Westcott and these images were taken with the Hasselbald H4D 4o, which of course means the amount of detail in these files is amazing. I shot to Sandisk Extreame Pro 4 and 8 GB cards.
