A Celebration of Wisdom: My Exhibition A Idade Importa
Opening A Idade Importa at the Biblioteca Camões in Lisbon has been an incredibly moving experience for me. This exhibition showcases 20 portraits of Portugal’s elderly, a series I created to celebrate the beauty of aging and capture the unique lives, resilience, and histories embodied by our seniors. Through these images, I hope to bring attention to the invaluable wisdom and strength of our older generations.
The Heart of My Project
A Idade Importa is more than just a photography exhibition; it’s a visual tribute to our elderly. Each portrait is filled with memories, showcasing the journey of individuals who have lived through joys, hardships, and growth. With this project, I aimed to give voice to a generation often overlooked and to highlight essential topics such as loneliness, mental health, and aging. I hope visitors feel connected to these stories and leave with a deeper appreciation for our elders.
An Unforgettable Opening
The opening day was truly special, filled with inspiring conversations and heartfelt moments shared with friends, family, and fellow art enthusiasts. Sharing this project with all of you has been so meaningful, and it’s a reminder of the powerful impact photography can have in honoring the lives and experiences of those who came before us.
About Me
As a photographer with over 25 years of experience, I’ve dedicated my career to capturing the human experience, often exploring social themes in my work. With A Idade Importa and other projects on themes like isolation and the effects of the pandemic, my goal is to shine a light on the resilience and strength of the human spirit.
